This site hosts a suite of products that aims to make Coptic more learnable.
This is a searchable digital version of A Coptic Dictionary, by Walter E. Crum. It's accessible at Crum
Flashcards are designed to help you learn Coptic vocabulary using spaced repetition.
The flashcards also include some interactive features (Easter eggs) that are left for you to discover. :)
NOTE: The package is updated regularly (almost daily), so make sure to save the link and come back occasionally to download the updated version. Synchronizing the package won't reset your learning progress, it will only update the note content.
You can download a Bohairic-English Bible in Ebook format:
NOTE:The two-column format (used in the Desktop version) is difficult for some e-readers to render. Some are able to render it but with compromised functionality. This is why we publish a single-column version as well, but you're free to use whichever one you prefer.
This is a basic Kindle dictionary that can support in-book lookups. Download it at Kindle Dictionary.
You will need to sideload the dictionary onto the e-reader device. Connect your Kindle to your computer with a USB cable, and copy the dictionary to the Documents folder. You then need to set the default dictionary to A Coptic Dictionary from settings, or from the reading interface.
NOTE: This dictionary is a mere prototype that was created on a whim, and it's still in experimentation phase. Use with two grains of salt.
We encourage you to read Coptic Grammar, by Alexis Mallon.
Our next milestone is to get the in-book lookup feature (currently only available for Kindle) to work on the website.
There is also a lot of maintenance work that will be done in the interim to the existing projects.
Our long-term plans include a standalone app, a learning (Duolingo-like) platform, and neologisms.
The project source lives at github.com/pishoyg/coptic.
