(ⲁ̅) ⲑⲙⲏⲓ ⲡⲉϯϫⲱ ⲙ̀ⲙⲟⲥ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲛ̀ϯϫⲉⲙⲉⲑⲛⲟⲩϫ ⲁⲛ ⲉⲥⲉⲣⲙⲉⲑⲣⲉ ⲉ̀ⲣⲟⲓ ⲛⲉⲙⲏⲓ ⲛ̀ϫⲉ ⲧⲁⲥⲩⲛⲏⲇⲉⲥⲓⲥ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲡⲛ̅ⲁ̅ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲁⲃ (ⲁ︦) ⲟⲩⲙⲉ ⲧⲉϯϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲛ̅ϯϫⲓϭⲟⲗ ⲁⲛ. ⲉⲥⲣ̅ⲙⲛ̅ⲧⲣⲉ ⲛⲙⲙⲁⲓ ⲛ̅ϭⲓ ⲧⲁⲥⲩⲛⲓⲇⲏⲥⲓⲥ ϩⲛ̅ ⲟⲩⲡⲛ̅ⲁ̅ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲁⲁⲃ. (1) (The) truth is that which I say in Christ, I say not falsehood; my conscience witnesseth with me unto me in the (lit. a) holy spirit, (1) Ἀλήθειαν λέγω ἐν Χριστῷ, οὐ ψεύδομαι, συμμαρτυρούσης μοι τῆς συνειδήσεώς μου ἐν πνεύματι ἁγίῳ,
(ⲃ̅) ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲟⲩⲛⲓϣϯ ⲛ̀ⲙⲕⲁϩ ⲛ̀ϩⲏⲧ ⲛⲉⲙⲏⲓ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲟⲩϣⲉⲛϩⲏⲧ ⲙ̀ⲡⲁϥⲙⲟⲩⲛⲕ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲁϩⲏⲧ (ⲃ︦) ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲛ ⲟⲩⲛⲟϭ ⲛ̅ⲗⲩⲡⲏ ⲛⲙ̅ⲙⲁⲓ ⲙⲛ̅ ⲟⲩⲙ̅ⲕⲁϩ ⲛ̅ϩⲏⲧ ⲛ̅ⲁⲧⲱϫⲛ ϩⲙ̅ ⲡⲁϩⲏⲧ. (2) that there is a great grief with me, and a compassion unfailing (lit. it is not wont to fail) in my heart. (2) ὅτι λύπη μοί ἐστιν μεγάλη καὶ ἀδιάλειπτος ὀδύνη τῇ καρδίᾳ μου·
(ⲅ̅) ⲛⲁⲓⲧⲱⲃϩ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲁ̀ⲛⲟⲕ ⲉ̀ⲉⲣⲁⲛⲁⲑⲏⲙⲁ ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲁ ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲉ̀ϫⲉⲛ ⲛⲁⲥⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⲛⲁⲥⲩⲛⲅⲉⲛⲏⲥ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲥⲁⲣⲝ (ⲅ︦) ⲛⲉⲓϣⲗⲏⲗ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲡⲉ ⲉⲧⲣⲁϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲥⲧⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛ̅ⲧⲙ̅ ⲡⲉⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲛ̅ⲛⲁϩⲣⲙ̅ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ϩⲁ ⲛⲁⲥⲛⲏⲩ ⲛⲁⲥⲩⲅⲅⲉⲛⲏⲥ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲥⲁⲣⲝ̅ (3) For I (pron.) was praying to be accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to flesh: (3) ηὐχόμην γὰρ ἀνάθεμα εἶναι αὐτὸς ἐγὼ ἀπὸ τοῦ Χριστοῦ ὑπὲρ τῶν ἀδελφῶν μου τῶν συγγενῶν μου κατὰ σάρκα,
(ⲇ̅) ⲉⲧⲉ ⲛⲓⲥⲣⲁⲏⲗⲓⲧⲏⲥ ⲛⲉ ⲛⲏ ⲉⲧⲉ ⲑⲱⲟⲩ ⲧⲉ ϯⲙⲉⲧϣⲏⲣⲓ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲡⲓⲱⲟⲩ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲓⲇⲓⲁⲑⲏⲕⲏ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲡⲓⲥⲉⲙⲛⲉ ⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲡⲓϣⲉⲙϣⲓ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲓⲱϣ (ⲇ︦) ⲉⲧⲉ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲛⲉ ⲛⲓⲥⲣⲁⲏⲗⲓⲧⲏⲥ. ⲛⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲱⲟⲩ ⲧⲉ ⲧⲙⲛ̅ⲧϣⲏⲣⲉ. ⲙⲛ̅ ⲡⲉⲟⲟⲩ. ⲙⲛ̅ ⲧⲇⲓⲁⲑⲏⲕⲏ. ⲙⲛ̅ ⲧⲛⲟⲙⲟⲑⲉⲥⲓⲁ. ⲙⲛ̅ ⲡϣⲙ̅ϣⲉ. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛ̅ⲉⲣⲏⲧ. (4) who are Israelite; they, whose is the sonship, and the glory, and the covenants, and the establishment of the law, and the ministry, and the promises; (4) οἵτινές εἰσιν Ἰσραηλῖται, ὧν ἡ υἱοθεσία καὶ ἡ δόξα καὶ αἱ διαθῆκαι καὶ ἡ νομοθεσία καὶ ἡ λατρεία καὶ αἱ ἐπαγγελίαι,
(ⲉ̅) ⲛⲏ ⲉⲧⲉ ⲛⲟⲩⲟⲩ ⲛⲉ ⲛⲓⲓⲟϯ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛ̀ⲑⲱⲟⲩ ⲟⲛ ⲁ ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲓ ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗ ⲛ̀ϧⲏⲧⲟⲩ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲥⲁⲣⲝ ⲫⲏ ⲉⲧⲭⲏ ϩⲓϫⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲫϯ ⲉⲧⲥⲙⲁⲣⲱⲟⲩⲧ ϣⲁ ⲉⲛⲉϩ ⲁⲙⲏⲛ (ⲉ︦) ⲛⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩⲟⲩ ⲛⲉ ⲛ̅ⲉⲓⲟⲧⲉ. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛ̅ⲧⲁ ⲡⲉⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲉⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛ̅ϩⲏⲧⲟⲩ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲥⲁⲣⲝ̅. ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲧϩⲓϫⲛ̅ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲙ. ⲡⲉⲧⲥⲙⲁⲙⲁⲁⲧ ϣⲁ ⲛⲓⲉⲛⲉϩ ϩⲁⲙⲏⲛ: (5) they, whose are the fathers, and they also--from them came Christ according to flesh, he who is set over all, God who (is) blessed for ever. Amen. (5) ὧν οἱ πατέρες, καὶ ἐξ ὧν ὁ χριστὸς τὸ κατὰ σάρκα, ὁ ὢν ἐπὶ πάντων, θεὸς εὐλογητὸς εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας· ἀμήν.
(ⲋ̅) ⲡⲁⲓⲣⲏϯ ⲇⲉ ⲙ̀ⲡⲉ ⲡⲓⲥⲁϫⲓ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ⲫϯ ϩⲉⲓ ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗ ⲟⲩ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲁⲛ ⲉⲧⲉ ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲥ̅ⲗ̅ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲛⲉ ⲡⲓⲥ̅ⲗ̅ (ⲋ︦) ⲟⲩⲭ ⲟⲓⲟⲛ ⲇⲉ ϫⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲁϥϩⲉ ⲛ̅ϭⲓ ⲡϣⲁϫⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ. ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲁⲛ ⲉⲛⲧⲁⲩⲉⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ̅ ⲡⲓⲥⲣⲁⲏⲗ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲓⲥⲣⲁⲏⲗ. (6) But thus the word of God fell not away. For not all who are from Israel, [these] are Israel: (6) Οὐχ οἷον δὲ ὅτι ἐκπέπτωκεν ὁ λόγος τοῦ θεοῦ. οὐ γὰρ πάντες οἱ ἐξ Ἰσραήλ, οὗτοι Ἰσραήλ·
(ⲍ̅) ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ϫⲉ ϩⲁⲛϫⲣⲟϫ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ⲁⲃⲣⲁⲁⲙ ⲛⲉ ϩⲁⲛϣⲏⲣⲓ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲛⲉ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ϧⲉⲛ ⲓⲥⲁⲁⲕ ⲉⲩⲉ̀ⲑⲁϩⲉⲙ ⲟⲩϫⲣⲟϫ ⲛⲁⲕ (ⲍ︦) ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ϫⲉ ϩⲉⲛⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ̅ ⲡⲉⲥⲡⲉⲣⲙⲁ ⲛ̅ⲁⲃⲣⲁϩⲁⲙ ⲛⲉ ϩⲉⲛϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲛⲉ. ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ϩⲛ̅ ⲓⲥⲁⲁⲕ ⲉⲩⲛⲁⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲛⲁⲕ ⲉⲩⲥⲡⲉⲣⲙⲁ. (7) neither then are seed (plur.) of Abraam all sons: but in Isaac shall a seed for thee be called (i e. invited). (7) οὐδʼ ὅτι εἰσὶν σπέρμα Ἀβραάμ, πάντες τέκνα, ἀλλʼ· Ἐν Ἰσαὰκ κληθήσεταί σοι σπέρμα.
(ⲏ̅) ⲉⲧⲉ ⲫⲁⲓ ⲡⲉ ϫⲉ ⲛⲓϣⲏⲣⲓ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ⲧⲥⲁⲣⲝ ⲁⲛ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲛⲉ ⲛⲓϣⲏⲣⲓ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ⲫϯ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲛⲓϣⲏⲣⲓ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ⲡⲓⲱϣ ⲉⲧⲟⲩⲛⲁⲟⲡⲟⲩ ⲉⲩϫⲣⲟϫ (ⲏ︦) ⲉⲧⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲡⲉ ϫⲉ ⲛ̅ϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲁⲛ ⲛ̅ⲧⲥⲁⲣⲝ̅ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲛⲉ ⲛ̅ϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ. ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲛ̅ϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲣⲏⲧ ⲛⲉⲧⲟⲩⲛⲁⲟⲡⲟⲩ ⲉⲡⲉⲥⲡⲉⲣⲙⲁ. (8) That is to say, that the sons of (the) flesh--these are not the sons of God; but the sons of the promise will be reckoned for a seed. (8) τοῦτʼ ἔστιν, οὐ τὰ τέκνα τῆς σαρκὸς ταῦτα τέκνα τοῦ θεοῦ, ἀλλὰ τὰ τέκνα τῆς ἐπαγγελίας λογίζεται εἰς σπέρμα·
(ⲑ̅) ⲡⲁⲓⲥⲁϫⲓ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲫⲁ ⲟⲩⲱϣ ⲡⲉ ϫⲉ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲡⲁⲓⲥⲏⲟⲩ ⲫⲁⲓ ⲉⲓⲉ̀ⲓ̀ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲣⲉ ⲟⲩϣⲏⲣⲓ ϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲛ̀ⲥⲁⲣⲣⲁ (ⲑ︦) ⲡⲉⲓϣⲁϫⲉ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲡⲁ ⲡⲉⲣⲏⲧ ⲡⲉ ϫⲉ ϯⲛⲏⲩ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲡⲓⲟⲩⲟⲉⲓϣ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉ ⲟⲩϣⲏⲣⲉ ϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲛ̅ⲥⲁⲣⲣⲁ. (9) For this word is that of a promise: 'According to this time I shall come, and a son shall be to Sarra. (9) ἐπαγγελίας γὰρ ὁ λόγος οὗτος· Κατὰ τὸν καιρὸν τοῦτον ἐλεύσομαι καὶ ἔσται τῇ Σάρρᾳ υἱός.
(ⲓ̅) ⲟⲩ ⲙⲟⲛⲟⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲧⲕⲉⲉⲣⲉⲃⲉⲕⲕⲁ ⲉ̀ⲁⲥϭⲓ ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩϣⲁⲓⲣⲓ ⲛ̀ⲟⲩⲱⲧ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ⲓⲥⲁⲁⲕ ⲡⲉⲛⲓⲱⲧ (ⲓ︦) ⲟⲩ ⲙⲟⲛⲟⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲧⲕⲉϩⲣⲉⲃⲉⲕⲕⲁ. ⲉⲁⲥϫⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ̅ ⲡⲙⲁ ⲛ̅ⲛ̅ⲕⲟⲧⲕ̅ ⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲁ ⲡⲉⲛⲉⲓⲱⲧ ⲓⲥⲁⲁⲕ. (10) But not only (so), but also (the) Erebekka as well, having conceived from one bed, of Isaac our father. (10) οὐ μόνον δέ, ἀλλὰ καὶ Ῥεβέκκα ἐξ ἑνὸς κοίτην ἔχουσα, Ἰσαὰκ τοῦ πατρὸς ἡμῶν·
(ⲓ̅ⲁ̅) ⲉⲙⲡⲁⲛⲧⲟⲩⲙⲁⲥⲟⲩ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⲙ̀ⲡⲁⲧⲟⲩⲓⲣⲓ ⲛ̀ⲟⲩϩⲱⲃ ⲉ̀ⲛⲁⲛⲉϥ ⲓⲉ ⲉϥϩⲱⲟⲩ ϩⲓⲛⲁ ϯⲙⲉⲧⲥⲱⲧⲡ ⲉⲧⲁ ⲫϯ ⲑⲁϣⲥ ⲓⲥϫⲉⲛ ϣⲟⲣⲡ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉⲥϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲉⲥⲥⲙⲟⲛⲧ (ⲓ︦ⲁ︦) ⲉⲙⲡⲁⲧⲟⲩϫⲡⲟⲟⲩ. ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲁⲧⲟⲩⲣ̅ϩⲱⲃ ⲛ̅ⲁⲅⲁⲑⲟⲛ. ⲏ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲑⲟⲟⲩ. ϫⲉⲕⲁⲁⲥ ⲉⲣⲉ ⲡⲧⲱϣ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲟⲩⲙⲛ̅ⲧⲥⲱⲧⲡ̅ ⲙⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ. (11) For when they were not yet born, nor yet had they done good or evil, that the choice which God ordained from (the) first might be permanent, (11) μήπω γὰρ γεννηθέντων μηδὲ πραξάντων τι ἀγαθὸν ἢ φαῦλον, ἵνα ἡ κατʼ ἐκλογὴν πρόθεσις τοῦ θεοῦ μένῃ,
(ⲓ̅ⲃ̅) ⲉⲛⲟⲩ ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ϩⲁⲛϩⲃⲏⲟⲩⲓ ⲁⲛ ⲧⲉ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲉⲧⲑⲱϩⲉⲙ ⲁⲩϫⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲥ ϫⲉ ⲉⲣⲉ ⲡⲓⲛⲓϣϯ ⲉⲣⲃⲱⲕ ⲙ̀ⲡⲓⲕⲟⲩϫⲓ (ⲓ︦ⲃ︦) ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ̅ ⲛⲉϩⲃⲏⲩⲉ ⲁⲛ. ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ̅ ⲡⲉⲧⲧⲱϩⲙ̅. ⲁⲩϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲛⲟϭ ⲛⲁⲣ̅ϩⲙ̅ϩⲁⲗ ⲙ̅ⲡⲕⲟⲩⲓ. being not from works, but from him who calleth, (12) it was said to her: The elder (lit. great) shall be servant to the younger (lit. little).' (12) οὐκ ἐξ ἔργων ἀλλʼ ἐκ τοῦ καλοῦντος, ἐρρέθη αὐτῇ ὅτι Ὁ μείζων δουλεύσει τῷ ἐλάσσονι·
(ⲓ̅ⲅ̅) ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⲉⲧⲥϧⲏⲟⲩⲧ ϫⲉ ⲓⲁⲕⲱⲃ ⲙⲉⲛ ⲁⲓⲙⲉⲛⲣⲓⲧϥ ⲏⲥⲁⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲓⲙⲉⲥⲧⲱϥ (ⲓ︦ⲅ︦) ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲑⲉ ⲉⲧⲥⲏϩ ϫⲉ ⲓⲁⲕⲱⲃ ⲁⲓⲙⲉⲣⲓⲧϥ̅. ⲏⲥⲁⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲓⲙⲉⲥⲧⲱϥ. (13) According as it is written: Jacob indeed I loved, but Esau I hated.' (13) καθὼς γέγραπται· Τὸν Ἰακὼβ ἠγάπησα, τὸν δὲ Ἠσαῦ ἐμίσησα.
(ⲓ̅ⲇ̅) ⲟⲩ ϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲉⲛⲛⲁϫⲟϥ ⲙⲏ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲟⲩⲙⲉⲧϭⲓⲛ̀ϫⲟⲛⲥ ϧⲁⲧⲉⲛ ⲫϯ ⲛ̀ⲛⲉⲥϣⲱⲡⲓ (ⲓ︦ⲇ︦) ⲟⲩ ϭⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲛ̅ⲛⲁϫⲟⲟϥ ⲙⲏ ⲟⲩⲛ̅ϫⲓ ⲛ̅ϭⲟⲛⲥ̅ ⲛ̅ⲛⲁϩⲣⲙ̅ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲛ̅ⲛⲉⲥϣⲱⲡⲉ. (14) What then shall (lit. will) we say? Is there [a] wrongdoing with God? It shall not be. (14) Τί οὖν ἐροῦμεν; μὴ ἀδικία παρὰ τῷ θεῷ; μὴ γένοιτο·
(ⲓ̅ⲉ̅) ϥϫⲱ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲙ̀ⲙⲟⲥ ⲙ̀ⲙⲱⲩ̀ⲥⲏⲥ ϫⲉ ϯⲛⲁⲛⲁⲓ ⲙ̀ⲫⲏ ⲉ̀ϯⲛⲁⲛⲁⲓ ⲛⲁϥ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ϯⲛⲁϣⲉⲛϩⲏⲧ ϧⲁ ⲫⲏ ⲉ̀ϯⲛⲁϣⲉⲛϩⲏⲧ ϧⲁⲣⲟϥ (ⲓ︦ⲉ︦) ϣⲁϥϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲙ̅ⲙⲱⲩ̈ⲥⲏⲥ ϫⲉ ϯⲛⲁⲛⲁ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉ ϯⲛⲁⲛⲁ ⲛⲁϥ. ⲧⲁϣⲛ̅ϩⲧⲏⲓ ϩⲁ ⲡⲉϯⲛⲁϣⲛ̅ϩⲧⲏⲓ ϩⲁⲣⲟϥ. (15) For he saith to Moses: I shall (lit. will) have mercy on whom I shall (lit. will) have mercy, and I shall (lit. will) have compassion on whom I shall (lit. will) have compassion.' (15) τῷ Μωϋσεῖ γὰρ λέγει· Ἐλεήσω ὃν ἂν ἐλεῶ, καὶ οἰκτιρήσω ὃν ἂν οἰκτίρω.
(ⲓ̅ⲋ̅) ϩⲁⲣⲁ ⲟⲩⲛ ⲫⲁ ⲡⲉⲑⲟⲩⲱϣ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⲙ̀ⲫⲁ ⲡⲉⲧϭⲟϫⲓ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲫⲁ ⲫϯ ⲉⲑⲛⲁⲓ̀ ⲡⲉ (ⲓ︦ⲋ︦) ⲁⲣⲁ ϭⲉ ⲙⲡⲁ ⲡⲉⲧⲟⲩⲱϣ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ. ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲁ ⲡⲉⲧⲡⲏⲧ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ. ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲡⲁ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲧⲛⲁ ⲡⲉ. (16) So then it is not of him who wisheth, nor is it of him who runneth, but it is of God who hath mercy. (16) ἄρα οὖν οὐ τοῦ θέλοντος οὐδὲ τοῦ τρέχοντος ἀλλὰ τοῦ ἐλεῶντος θεοῦ.
(ⲓ̅ⲍ̅) ⲥϫⲱ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲙ̀ⲙⲟⲥ ⲛ̀ϫⲉ ϯⲅⲣⲁⲫⲏ ⲙ̀ⲫⲁⲣⲁⲱ ϫⲉ ⲉⲑⲃⲉ ⲫⲁⲓ ⲁⲓⲧⲟⲩⲛⲟⲥⲕ ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⲛ̀ⲧⲁⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ ⲛ̀ⲧⲁϫⲟⲙ ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗ ⲛ̀ϧⲣⲏⲓ ⲛ̀ϧⲏⲧⲕ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛ̀ⲥⲉⲫⲓⲣⲓ ⲉ̀ⲡⲁⲣⲁⲛ ϩⲓϫⲉⲛ ⲡⲕⲁϩⲓ ⲧⲏⲣϥ (ⲓ︦ⲍ︦) ϣⲁⲣⲉ ⲧⲉⲅⲣⲁⲫⲏ ⲅⲁⲣ ϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲙ̅ⲫⲁⲣⲁⲱ ϫⲉ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲁⲓⲧⲟⲩⲛⲟⲥⲕ̅ ϫⲉ ⲉⲓⲉⲟⲩⲉⲛϩ̅ ⲧⲁϭⲟⲙ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛ̅ϩⲏⲧⲕ̅. ⲁⲩⲱ ϫⲉ ⲉⲩⲉϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲡⲁⲣⲁⲛ ϩⲙ ⲡⲕⲁϩ ⲧⲏⲣϥ̅. (17) For the Scripture saith to Pharaō: 'Therefore I raised thee (up), that I might manifest my power in thee, and that my name might be declared over all the earth.' (17) λέγει γὰρ ἡ γραφὴ τῷ Φαραὼ ὅτι Εἰς αὐτὸ τοῦτο ἐξήγειρά σε ὅπως ἐνδείξωμαι ἐν σοὶ τὴν δύναμίν μου, καὶ ὅπως διαγγελῇ τὸ ὄνομά μου ἐν πάσῃ τῇ γῇ.
(ⲓ̅ⲏ̅) ϩⲁⲣⲁ ⲟⲩⲛ ⲡⲉⲧⲉϥⲟⲩⲁϣϥ ϣⲁϥⲛⲁⲓ ⲛⲁϥ ⲫⲏ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲧⲁϥⲟⲩⲁϣϥ ⲁⲛ ϣⲁϥⲉⲑⲣⲉϥⲉⲛϣⲱⲧ (ⲓ︦ⲏ︦) ⲁⲣⲁ ϭⲉ ⲡⲉⲧϥ̅ⲟⲩⲁϣϥ ⲡⲉϣⲁϥⲛⲁ ⲛⲁϥ. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉⲧϥ̅ⲟⲩⲁϣϥ̅ ϣⲁϥϯⲛ̅ϣⲟⲧ ⲛⲁϥ. (18) So then on whom he wished he hath mercy, but whom he wished notes he hardeneth. (18) ἄρα οὖν ὃν θέλει ἐλεεῖ, ὃν δὲ θέλει σκληρύνει.
(ⲓ̅ⲑ̅) ⲭⲛⲁϫⲟⲥ ⲟⲩⲛ ⲛⲏⲓ ϫⲉ ⲉⲑⲃⲉⲟⲩ ϥϫⲉⲙ ⲁⲣⲓⲕⲓ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲉϥϯ ⲉ̀ϧⲟⲩⲛ ⲉ̀ϩⲣⲉⲛ ⲡⲉϥⲥⲟϭⲛⲓ (ⲓ︦ⲑ︦) ⲕⲛⲁϫⲟⲟⲥ ϭⲉ ⲛⲁⲓ ϫⲉ ⲁϩⲣⲟϥ ϥϭⲛ̅ⲁⲣⲓⲕⲉ. ⲛⲓⲙ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲁϩⲉⲣⲁⲧϥ̅ ⲟⲩⲃⲉ ⲡⲉϥⲟⲩⲱϣ. (19) Thou wilt say then to me: Why findeth he fault? For who is going (lit. giving) against his counsel?' (19) Ἐρεῖς μοι οὖν· Τί οὖν ἔτι μέμφεται; τῷ γὰρ βουλήματι αὐτοῦ τίς ἀνθέστηκεν;
(ⲕ̅) ⲙⲉⲛⲟⲩⲛⲅⲉ ⲱ ⲫⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⲛ̀ⲑⲟⲕ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲛ̀ⲑⲟⲕ ⲫⲏ ⲉⲧⲉⲣⲟⲩⲱ ⲉ̀ϧⲟⲩⲛ ⲉ̀ϩⲣⲉⲛ ⲫϯ ⲙⲏ ⲉ̀ⲣⲉϣ ⲡⲓⲙⲟⲛⲕ ϫⲟⲥ ⲙ̀ⲫⲏ ⲉⲧⲁϥⲙⲟⲛⲕϥ ϫⲉ ⲉⲑⲃⲉⲟⲩ ⲁⲕⲑⲁⲙⲓⲟⲓ ⲙ̀ⲡⲁⲓⲣⲏϯ (ⲕ︦) ⲱ ⲡⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲕ̅ ⲛⲓⲙ ϩⲱⲱϥ ⲉⲟⲩⲱϣⲃ̅ ⲟⲩⲃⲉ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲙⲏ ⲡⲉⲡⲗⲁⲥⲙⲁ ⲛⲁϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲡⲗⲁⲥⲥⲉ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟϥ ϫⲉ ⲁϩⲣⲟⲕ ⲁⲕⲧⲁⲙⲓⲟⲓ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲓϩⲉ. (20) Nay but, O man, who art thou who answerest against God? Shall the thing formed be able to say to him who formed it: Why madest thou me thus?' (20) ὦ ἄνθρωπε, μενοῦνγε σὺ τίς εἶ ὁ ἀνταποκρινόμενος τῷ θεῷ; μὴ ἐρεῖ τὸ πλάσμα τῷ πλάσαντι Τί με ἐποίησας οὕτως;
(ⲕ̅ⲁ̅) ϣⲁⲛ ⲙ̀ⲙⲟⲛ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ⲡⲓⲕⲉⲣⲁⲙⲉⲩⲥ ⲙⲡⲉⲣϣⲓϣⲓ ⲙ̀ⲡⲉϥⲟⲙⲓ ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲁⲓⲟⲩⲱϣⲉⲙ ⲣⲱ ⲉ̀ⲑⲁⲙⲓⲟ ⲛ̀ⲟⲩⲥⲕⲉⲩⲟⲥ ⲟⲩⲁⲓ ⲙⲉⲛ ⲉ̀ⲡⲧⲁⲓⲟ ⲕⲉⲟⲩⲁⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲩϣⲱϣ (ⲕ︦ⲁ︦) ⲏ ⲙⲛ̅ⲧⲉ ⲡⲕⲉⲣⲁⲙⲉⲩⲥ ⲧⲉⲝⲟⲩⲥⲓⲁ ⲉⲧⲁⲙⲓⲟ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ̅ ⲡⲓⲟⲙⲉ ⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲱⲧ ⲛ̅ⲟⲩϩⲛⲁⲁⲩ ⲉⲩⲧⲁⲉⲓⲟ. ⲕⲉⲟⲩⲁ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲩⲥⲱϣ. (21) Or hath not the potter authority over his clay, from the same lump to make a vessel, one indeed unto (the) honour, but another unto [a] dishonour? (21) ἢ οὐκ ἔχει ἐξουσίαν ὁ κεραμεὺς τοῦ πηλοῦ ἐκ τοῦ αὐτοῦ φυράματος ποιῆσαι ὃ μὲν εἰς τιμὴν σκεῦος ὃ δὲ εἰς ἀτιμίαν;
(ⲕ̅ⲃ̅) ⲓⲥϫⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥⲟⲩⲱϣ ⲛ̀ϫⲉ ⲫϯ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ ⲙ̀ⲡⲉϥϫⲱⲛⲧ ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲧⲁⲙⲟⲛ ⲉ̀ⲧⲉϥϫⲟⲙ ⲁϥⲓⲛⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲛⲓϣϯ ⲙ̀ⲙⲉⲧⲣⲉϥⲱⲟⲩ ⲛϩⲏⲧ ⲛ̀ϩⲁⲛⲥⲕⲉⲩⲟⲥ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ⲡϫⲱⲛⲧ ⲉⲩⲥⲉⲃⲧⲱⲧ ⲉ̀ⲡⲧⲁⲕⲟ (ⲕ︦ⲃ︦) ⲉϣϫⲉ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲱϣ ⲉⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ̅ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉϥⲟⲣⲅⲏ. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲧⲁⲙⲟⲛ ⲉⲧⲉϥϭⲟⲙ. ⲁϥⲉⲓⲛⲉ ϩⲛ̅ ⲟⲩⲛⲟϭ ⲙ̅ⲙⲛ̅ⲧϩⲁⲣϣ̅ϩⲏⲧ ⲛ̅ϩⲉⲛⲥⲕⲉⲩⲏ ⲛ̅ⲟⲣⲅⲏ ⲉⲩⲥⲃ̅ⲧⲱⲧ ⲉⲡⲧⲁⲕⲟ. (22) But if God wished to manifest his anger, and to shew us his power, he endured (lit. brought) in a great longsuffering vessels of (the) anger, prepared unto (the) destruction: (22) εἰ δὲ θέλων ὁ θεὸς ἐνδείξασθαι τὴν ὀργὴν καὶ γνωρίσαι τὸ δυνατὸν αὐτοῦ ἤνεγκεν ἐν πολλῇ μακροθυμίᾳ σκεύη ὀργῆς κατηρτισμένα εἰς ἀπώλειαν,
(ⲕ̅ⲅ̅) ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉϥⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ ⲛ̀ϯⲙⲉⲧⲣⲁⲙⲁⲟ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ⲡⲉϥⲱⲟⲩ ⲉ̀ϩⲣⲏⲓ ⲉ̀ϫⲉⲛ ϩⲁⲛⲥⲕⲉⲩⲟⲥ ⲛ̀ⲛⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲉ ⲛⲏ ⲛⲉ ⲉⲧⲁϥⲉⲣϣⲟⲣⲡ ⲛ̀ⲥⲉⲃⲧⲱⲧⲟⲩ ⲉⲩⲱⲟⲩ (ⲕ︦ⲅ︦) ϫⲉ ⲉϥⲉⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ̅ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛ̅ⲧⲙⲛ̅ⲧⲣⲙ̅ⲙⲁⲟ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉϥⲉⲟⲟⲩ ⲉϫⲛ̅ ϩⲉⲛⲥⲕⲉⲩⲏ ⲛ̅ⲛⲁ. ⲛⲁⲓ ⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲥⲃ̅ⲧⲱⲧⲟⲩ ϫⲓⲛ ⲛ̅ϣⲟⲣⲡ̅ ⲉⲡⲉⲟⲟⲩ. (23) that he might manifest the riches of his glory upon vessels of mercy, being those which he prepared before unto [a] glory, (23) καὶ ἵνα γνωρίσῃ τὸν πλοῦτον τῆς δόξης αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ σκεύη ἐλέους, ἃ προητοίμασεν εἰς δόξαν,
(ⲕ̅ⲇ̅) ⲉⲧⲉ ⲁ̀ⲛⲟⲛ ⲡⲉ ϧⲁ ⲛⲏ ⲉⲧⲁϥⲑⲁϩⲙⲟⲩ ⲟⲩ ⲙⲟⲛⲟⲛ ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲓⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲓⲕⲉⲉⲑⲛⲟⲥ (ⲕ︦ⲇ︦) ⲛⲁⲓ ⲟⲛ ⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲧⲁϩⲙⲟⲩ ⲁⲛⲟⲛ. ⲟⲩ ⲙⲟⲛⲟⲛ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ̅ ⲛ̅ⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ̅ ⲛ̅ⲕⲉϩⲉⲑⲛⲟⲥ. (24) that is to say us, namely them whom he invited, not only from the Jews, but also from the Gentiles. (24) οὓς καὶ ἐκάλεσεν ἡμᾶς οὐ μόνον ἐξ Ἰουδαίων ἀλλὰ καὶ ἐξ ἐθνῶν;—
(ⲕ̅ⲉ̅) ⲙ̀ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⲟⲛ ⲉⲧⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙ̀ⲙⲟⲥ ⲛ̀ⲱⲥⲓⲉ ϫⲉ ϯⲛⲁⲙⲟⲩϯ ⲉ̀ⲫⲏ ⲉⲧⲉ ⲡⲁⲗⲁⲟⲥ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ ϫⲉ ⲡⲁⲗⲁⲟⲥ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲑⲏ ⲉⲧⲉ ⲙ̀ⲡⲟⲩⲙⲉⲛⲣⲓⲧⲥ ϫⲉ ⲁⲩⲙⲉⲛⲣⲓⲧⲥ (ⲕ︦ⲉ︦) ⲛ̅ⲑⲉ ⲟⲛ ⲉϣⲁϥϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲛ̅ⲱⲥⲏⲉ ϫⲉ ϯⲛⲁⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲡⲉⲧⲉⲙⲡⲁⲗⲁⲟⲥ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ ϫⲉ ⲡⲁⲗⲁⲟⲥ. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲧⲁⲙⲉⲣⲓⲧ ⲁⲛ ϫⲉ ⲧⲁⲙⲉⲣⲓⲧ. (25) As he saith also in Osee, I will call them my people, which were not my people; and her beloved, which was As also he saith to Ōsie: I shall (lit. will) call him who is not my people, "My people;" and her who was not beloved, "She. was beloved."'not beloved. (25) ὡς καὶ ἐν τῷ Ὡσηὲ λέγει· Καλέσω τὸν οὐ λαόν μου λαόν μου καὶ τὴν οὐκ ἠγαπημένην ἠγαπημένην·
(ⲕ̅ⲋ̅) ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲥⲉ̀ϣⲱⲡⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲙⲁ ⲉⲧⲁⲩϫⲟⲥ ⲛⲱⲟⲩ ⲙ̀ⲙⲟϥ ϫⲉ ⲛ̀ⲑⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲡⲁⲗⲁⲟⲥ ⲁⲛ ⲙ̀ⲡⲓⲙⲁ ⲉⲧⲉⲙ̀ⲙⲁⲩ ⲉⲩⲉ̀ⲙⲟⲩϯ ⲉ̀ⲣⲱⲟⲩ ϫⲉ ⲛⲉⲛϣⲏⲣⲓ ⲙ̀ⲫϯ ⲉⲧⲟⲛϧ (ⲕ︦ⲋ︦) ⲛⲥ̅ϣⲱⲡⲉ ϩⲙ̅ ⲡⲙⲁ ⲉⲛⲧⲁⲩϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲧⲛ̅ ⲡⲁⲗⲁⲟⲥ ⲁⲛ ⲥⲉⲛⲁⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲟⲩ ⲙ̅ⲙⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲛ̅ϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲧⲟⲛϩ̅. (26) And it shall be, in the place in which they said to them: Ye (are) not my people,' in that place they shall call them (the) sons of the living God.' (26) καὶ ἔσται ἐν τῷ τόπῳ οὗ ἐρρέθη αὐτοῖς· Οὐ λαός μου ὑμεῖς, ἐκεῖ κληθήσονται υἱοὶ θεοῦ ζῶντος.
(ⲕ̅ⲍ̅) ⲏⲥⲁⲏⲁⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲉϥⲱϣ ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗ ⲉ̀ϫⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲥ̅ⲗ̅ ϫⲉ ⲉ̀ϣⲱⲡ ⲉⲣⲉ ⲧⲏⲡⲓ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ⲛⲉⲛϣⲏⲣⲓ ⲙ̀ⲡⲓⲥ̅ⲗ̅ ⲉⲥⲟⲓ ⲙ̀ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⲙ̀ⲡⲓϣⲱ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ⲫⲓⲟⲙ ⲡⲥⲱϫⲡ ⲉϥⲉ̀ⲛⲟϩⲉⲙ (ⲕ︦ⲍ︦) ⲏⲥⲁⲓⲁⲥ ϫⲉ ϫⲓϣⲕⲁⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲁ ⲡⲓⲥⲣⲁⲏⲗ. ϫⲉ ⲉⲣϣⲁⲛⲧⲏⲡⲉ ⲛ̅ⲛ̅ϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲓⲥⲣⲁⲏⲗ ⲣ̅ⲑⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡϣⲱ ⲛ̅ⲑⲁⲗⲁⲥⲥⲁ ⲟⲩϣⲱϫⲡ ̅ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁⲟⲩϫⲁⲓ. (27) But Ēsaēas is crying out for Israel: If (the) number of (the) sons of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, (only) (the) remnant shall be saved: (27) Ἠσαΐας δὲ κράζει ὑπὲρ τοῦ Ἰσραήλ· Ἐὰν ᾖ ὁ ἀριθμὸς τῶν υἱῶν Ἰσραὴλ ὡς ἡ ἄμμος τῆς θαλάσσης, τὸ ὑπόλειμμα σωθήσεται·
(ⲕ̅ⲏ̅) ⲟⲩⲥⲁϫⲓ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲉϥϫⲱⲕ ⲙ̀ⲙⲟϥ ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉϥϣⲱⲧ ⲙ̀ⲙⲟϥ ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗ ⲫⲏ ⲉⲧⲉ ⲡϭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲛⲁⲁⲓϥ ϩⲓϫⲉⲛ ⲡⲕⲁϩⲓ (ⲕ︦ⲏ︦) ⲟⲩϣⲁϫⲉ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲉϥϫⲱⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉϥϣⲱⲱⲧ ⲡⲉⲧⲉⲣⲉ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲛⲁⲁⲁϥ ϩⲓϫⲙ̅ ⲡⲕⲁϩ. (28) for a word, completing it and cutting it off (is) that which the Lord will do upon (the) earth.' (28) λόγον γὰρ συντελῶν καὶ συντέμνων ποιήσει κύριος ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς.
(ⲕ̅ⲑ̅) ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⲟⲛ ⲉⲧⲁϥϫⲟⲥ ⲛ̀ϫⲉ ⲏⲥⲁⲏⲁⲥ ϫⲉ ⲉⲛⲉ ⲙ̀ⲡⲉ ⲡϭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲥⲁⲃⲁⲱⲑ ⲥⲱϫⲡ ⲛ̀ⲟⲩϫⲣⲟϫ ⲛⲁⲛ ⲛⲁⲛⲛⲁⲉⲣ ⲙ̀ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⲛ̀ⲥⲟⲇⲟⲙⲁ ⲡⲉ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛⲁⲛⲛⲁⲓⲛⲓ ⲛ̀ⲅⲟⲙⲟⲣⲣⲁ (ⲕ︦ⲑ︦) ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲑⲉ ⲟⲛ ⲉⲛⲧⲁ ⲏⲥⲁⲓⲁⲥ ϫⲉ ⲛ̅ⲥⲁⲃⲏⲗ ϫⲉ ⲁ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲥⲁⲃⲁⲱⲑ ϣⲱϫⲡ̅ ⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲥⲡⲉⲣⲙⲁ. ⲛⲉⲛⲛⲁϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲡⲉ ⲛ̅ⲑⲉ ⲛ̅ⲥⲟⲇⲟⲙⲁ. ⲛ̅ⲧⲛ̅ⲉⲓⲛⲉ ⲛ̅ⲅⲟⲙⲟⲣⲣⲁ. (29) And according as again Ēsaēas said: If the Lord Sabaōth had not left a seed to us, we should have been as Sodoma, and we should have been like to Gomorra.' (29) καὶ καθὼς προείρηκεν Ἠσαΐας· Εἰ μὴ κύριος Σαβαὼθ ἐγκατέλιπεν ἡμῖν σπέρμα, ὡς Σόδομα ἂν ἐγενήθημεν καὶ ὡς Γόμορρα ἂν ὡμοιώθημεν.
(ⲗ̅) ⲟⲩ ϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲉⲛⲛⲁϫⲟϥ ϫⲉ ⲛⲓⲉⲑⲛⲟⲥ ⲉⲧⲉ ⲙ̀ⲡⲟⲩϭⲟϫⲓ ⲛ̀ⲥⲁ ϯⲙⲉⲑⲙⲏⲓ ⲁⲩⲧⲁϩⲉ ϯⲙⲉⲑⲙⲏⲓ ϯⲙⲉⲑⲙⲏⲓ ⲇⲉ ϯⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⲫⲛⲁϩϯ (ⲗ︦) ⲉⲛⲛⲁϫⲟⲟⲥ ϭⲉ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩ ϫⲉ ⲛ̅ϩⲉⲑⲛⲟⲥ ⲉⲧⲉⲛ̅ⲥⲉⲡⲏⲧ ⲁⲛ ⲛ̅ⲥⲁ ⲧⲇⲓⲕⲁⲓⲟⲥⲩⲛⲏ ⲁⲩⲧⲁϩⲉ ⲧⲇⲓⲕⲁⲓⲟⲥⲩⲛⲏ. ⲧⲇⲓⲕⲁⲓⲟⲥⲩⲛⲏ ⲇⲉ ⲧⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ̅ ⲧⲡⲓⲥⲧⲓⲥ. (30) What then shall (lit. will) we say that the Gentiles (did)? Having pursued not [the] righteousness, they caught [the] righteousness, but the righteousness which is (lit, the) from (the) faith. (30) Τί οὖν ἐροῦμεν; ὅτι ἔθνη τὰ μὴ διώκοντα δικαιοσύνην κατέλαβεν δικαιοσύνην, δικαιοσύνην δὲ τὴν ἐκ πίστεως·
(ⲗ̅ⲁ̅) ⲡⲓⲥ̅ⲗ̅ ⲇⲉ ⲉϥϭⲟϫⲓ ⲛⲥⲁ ⲡⲓⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ϯⲙⲉⲑⲙⲏⲓ ⲙ̀ⲡⲉϥⲫⲟϩ ⲉ̀ⲡⲓⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ (ⲗ︦ⲁ︦) ⲡⲓⲥⲣⲁⲏⲗ ⲇⲉ ⲉϥⲡⲏⲧ ⲛ̅ⲥⲁ ⲡⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ ⲛ̅ⲧⲇⲓⲕⲁⲓⲟⲥⲩⲛⲏ ⲙ̅ⲡϥ̅ⲧⲁϩⲉ ⲡⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ. (31) But Israel pursuing the law of [the] righteousness reached not the law. (31) Ἰσραὴλ δὲ διώκων νόμον δικαιοσύνης εἰς νόμον οὐκ ἔφθασεν.
(ⲗ̅ⲃ̅) ⲉⲑⲃⲉⲟⲩ ϫⲉ ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⲫⲛⲁϩϯ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ϩⲱⲥ ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ϩⲁⲛϩⲃⲏⲟⲩⲓ ⲁⲩϭⲓϭⲣⲟⲡ ⲉ̀ⲡⲓⲱⲛⲓ ⲛ̀ϭⲣⲟⲡ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⲉⲧⲥϧⲏⲟⲩⲧ (ⲗ︦ⲃ︦) ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲟⲩ ϫⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ̅ ⲧⲡⲓⲥⲧⲓⲥ ⲁⲛ. ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ϩⲱⲥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ̅ ⲛⲉϩⲃⲏⲟⲩⲉ. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩϫⲱⲣⲡ̅ ⲉⲡⲱⲛⲉ ⲛ̅ϫⲣⲟⲡ (32) Why? Because it is not from (the) faith, but as from works. They stumbled at the stone of stumbling; according as it is written: (32) διὰ τί; ὅτι οὐκ ἐκ πίστεως ἀλλʼ ὡς ἐξ ἔργων· προσέκοψαν τῷ λίθῳ τοῦ προσκόμματος,
(ⲗ̅ⲅ̅) ϫⲉ ϩⲏⲡⲡⲉ ϯⲛⲁⲭⲱ ϧⲉⲛ ⲥⲓⲱⲛ ⲛ̀ⲟⲩⲱⲛⲓ ⲛ̀ϭⲣⲟⲡ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲟⲩⲡⲉⲧⲣⲁ ⲛ̀ⲥⲕⲁⲛⲇⲁⲗⲟⲛ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲫⲏ ⲉⲑⲛⲁϩϯ ⲉ̀ⲣⲟϥ ⲛ̀ⲛⲉϥϭⲓϣⲓⲡⲓ (ⲗ︦ⲅ︦) ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲑⲉ ⲉⲧⲥⲏϩ ϫⲉ ⲉⲓⲥ ϩⲏⲏⲧⲉ ϯⲛⲁⲕⲱ ϩⲛ̅ ⲥⲓⲱⲛ ⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲱⲛⲉ ⲛ̅ϫⲣⲟⲡ ⲙⲛ̅ ⲟⲩⲡⲉⲧⲣⲁ ⲛ̅ⲥⲕⲁⲛⲇⲁⲗⲟⲛ. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲛϥ̅ⲛⲁϫⲓϣⲓⲡⲉ ⲁⲛ. (33) Behold I shall (lit. will) set in Siōn a stone of stumbling and a rock of offence, and he who believeth him shall not be ashamed.' (33) καθὼς γέγραπται· Ἰδοὺ τίθημι ἐν Σιὼν λίθον προσκόμματος καὶ πέτραν σκανδάλου, καὶ ὁ πιστεύων ἐπʼ αὐτῷ οὐ καταισχυνθήσεται.
