Judges 21

(ⲁ︦)	(1) Now the children of Israel swore in Massephath, saying, No man of us shall give his daughter to Benjamin for a wife.	(1) Καὶ ἀνὴρ Ισραηλ ὤµοσεν ἐν Μασσηφα λέγων Ἀνὴρ ἐξ ἡµῶν οὐ δώσει τὴν θυγατέρα αὐτοῦ τῷ Βενιαµιν εἰς γυναῖκα.
(ⲃ︦)	(2) And the people came to Baethel, and sat there until evening before God: and they lifted up their voice and wept with a great weeping;	(2) καὶ παρεγένοντο πᾶς ὁ λαὸς εἰς Μασσηφα καὶ Βαιθηλ καὶ ἐκάθισαν ἐκεῖ ἕως ἑσπέρας ἐνώπιον τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ ἐπῆραν τὴν φωνὴν αὐτῶν καὶ ἔκλαυσαν κλαυθµὸν µέγαν
(ⲅ︦)	(3) and said, Wherefore, O Lord God of Israel, has this come to pass, that to-day one tribe should be counted as missing from Israel?	(3) καὶ εἶπαν Ἵνα τί, κύριε ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ, ἐγενήθη αὕτη ἐν τῷ Ισραηλ, τοῦ ἐπισκεπῆναι σήµερον ἐν τῷ Ισραηλ φυλὴν µίαν;
(ⲇ︦)	(4) And it came to pass on the morrow that the people rose up early, and built there an altar, and offered up whole-burnt-offerings and peace offerings.	(4) καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῇ ἐπαύριον καὶ ὤρθρισεν ὁ λαὸς καὶ ᾠκοδόµησαν ἐκεῖ θυσιαστήριον καὶ ἀνήνεγκαν ὁλοκαυτώµατα σωτηρίου.
(ⲉ︦)	(5) And the children of Israel said, Who of all the tribes of Israel, went not up in the congregation to the Lord? for there was a great oath concerning those who went not up to the Lord to Massephath, saying, He shall surely be put to death.	(5) καὶ εἶπαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ Τίς ὁ µὴ ἀναβὰς ἐν τῇ ἐκκλησίᾳ ἐκ πασῶν φυλῶν Ισραηλ πρὸς κύριον; ὅτι ὅρκος µέγας ἦν τῷ µὴ ἀναβάντι πρὸς κύριον εἰς Μασσηφα λέγοντες Θανάτῳ ἀποθανεῖται.
(ⲋ︦)	(6) And the children of Israel relented toward Benjamin their brother, and said, To-day one tribe is cut off from Israel.	(6) καὶ παρεκλήθησαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ περὶ Βενιαµιν τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτῶν καὶ εἶπαν Ἀφῄρηται σήµερον φυλὴ µία ἐξ Ισραηλ·
(ⲍ︦) ]ⲟⲩ ⲡⲉⲧⲛ̅ⲛⲁⲁϥ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲛ̅ⲕⲟⲟⲩⲉ ⲉⲧⲟ ⲛ̅ϩⲟⲩⲟ ⲉⲛⲧⲁⲩϣⲱϫⲡ̅ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ϯⲥϩⲓⲙⲉ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲛⲟⲛ ⲁⲛⲱⲣⲕ̅ ⲙ̅ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲉⲧⲙ̅ϯⲥϩⲓⲙⲉ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ̅ ⲛⲉⲛϣⲉⲉⲣⲉ	(7) What shall we do for wives for the rest that remain? whereas we have sworn by the Lord, not to give them of our daughters for wives.	(7) τί ποιήσωµεν αὐτοῖς τοῖς ὑπολειφθεῖσιν εἰς γυναῖκας; καὶ ἡµεῖς ὠµόσαµεν ἐν κυρίῳ τοῦ µὴ δοῦναι αὐτοῖς ἀπὸ τῶν θυγατέρων ἡµῶν εἰς γυναῖκας.
(ⲏ︦) ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ̅ ⲛⲉⲫⲩⲗⲏ ⲙ̅ⲡⲓ̈ⲥⲣⲁⲏⲗ ⲡⲉⲧⲉⲙ̅ⲡϥ̅ⲉⲓ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ̈ ⲉⲣⲁⲧϥ̅ ⲙ̅ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲉⲙⲁⲥⲥⲏⲫⲁ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲓⲥ ϩⲏⲏⲧⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲟⲩⲉⲓ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ̈ ⲉⲧⲡⲁⲣⲉⲙⲃⲟⲗⲏ ⲛ̅ϭⲓ ⲛ̅ⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲛ̅ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ̅ ⲓ̈ⲁⲃⲓⲥ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉ ⲅⲁⲗⲁⲁⲇ ⲉⲧⲉⲕⲕⲗⲏⲥⲓⲁ	(8) And they said, What one man is there of the tribes of Israel, who went not up to the Lord to Massephath? and, behold, no man came to the camp from Jabis Galaad to the assembly.	(8) καὶ εἶπαν Τίς µία τῶν φυλῶν Ισραηλ, ἥτις οὐκ ἀνέβη πρὸς κύριον εἰς Μασσηφα; καὶ ἰδοὺ οὐκ ἦλθεν ἀνὴρ εἰς τὴν παρεµβολὴν ἀπὸ Ιαβις Γαλααδ εἰς τὴν ἐκκλησίαν.
(ⲑ︦) ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲗⲁⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲙⲟϣⲧϥ̅ ⲙ̅ⲡⲟⲩϩⲉ ⲉⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲛ̅ϩⲏⲧⲟⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ̅ ⲛⲉⲧⲟⲩⲏϩ ϩⲛ̅ ⲓ̈ⲁⲃⲓⲥ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉ ⲅⲁⲗⲁⲁⲇ	(9) And the people were numbered, and there was not there a man from the inhabitants of Jabis Galaad.	(9) καὶ ἐπεσκέπη ὁ λαός, καὶ ἰδοὺ οὐκ ἔστιν ἐκεῖ ἀνὴρ ἀπὸ τῶν κατοικούντων Ιαβις Γαλααδ.
(ⲓ︦) ⲁⲩⲱ ⲧⲥⲩⲛⲁⲅⲱⲅⲏ ⲁⲥϫⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲡⲙⲁ ⲉⲧⲙ̅ⲙⲁⲩ ⲙ̅ⲙⲏⲧⲥⲛⲟⲟⲩⲥ ⲛ̅ϣⲟ ⲛ̅ⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ̅ ⲛ̅ϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲓ̈ⲥⲣⲁⲏⲗ ⲛ̅ϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲛ̅ϫⲱⲱⲣⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩϩⲱⲛ ⲉⲧⲟⲟⲧⲟⲩ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲃⲱⲕ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲧⲛ̅ⲡⲁⲧⲁⲥⲥⲉ ⲛ̅ⲛⲉⲧⲟⲩⲏϩ ϩⲛ̅ ⲓ̈ⲁⲃⲓⲥ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉ ⲅⲁⲗⲁⲁⲇ ϩⲛ̅ ⲟⲩⲧⲁⲡⲣⲟ ⲛ̅ⲥⲏϥⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲉϩⲓⲟⲙⲉ ⲙⲛ̅ ⲡⲗⲁⲟⲥ	(10) And the congregation sent thither twelve thousand men of the strongest, and they charged them, saying, Go ye and smite the inhabitants of Jabis Galaad with the edge of the sword.	(10) καὶ ἀπέστειλαν ἐκεῖ ἡ συναγωγὴ δώδεκα χιλιάδας ἀνδρῶν ἀπὸ τῶν υἱῶν τῆς δυνάµεως καὶ ἐνετείλαντο αὐτοῖς λέγοντες Πορεύθητε καὶ πατάξατε πάντας τοὺς κατοικοῦντας Ιαβις Γαλααδ ἐν στόµατι ῥοµφαίας καὶ τὰς γυναῖκας καὶ τὸν λαόν.
(ⲓ︦ⲁ︦) ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉⲓϣⲁϫⲉ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲉⲁⲁϥ ϩⲟⲟⲩⲧ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲥϩⲓⲙⲉ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲁⲥⲥⲟⲩⲛ ⲙⲁ ⲛ̅ⲛ̅ⲕⲟⲧⲕ̅ ⲛ̅ϩⲟⲟⲩⲧ ⲁⲣⲓⲥⲟⲩ ⲛ̅ⲁⲛⲁⲑⲉⲙⲁ ⲏ ⲛ̅ⲃⲟⲧⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲁⲣⲑⲉⲛⲟⲥ ⲇⲉ ϩⲁⲣⲉϩ ⲉⲣⲟⲟⲩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩⲉⲓⲣⲉ ϩⲓⲛⲁⲓ̈	(11) And this shall ye do: every male and every woman that has known the lying with man ye shall devote to destruction, but the virgins ye shall save alive: and they did so.	(11) καὶ οὗτος ὁ λόγος, ὃν ποιήσετε· πᾶν ἀρσενικὸν καὶ πᾶσαν γυναῖκα γινώσκουσαν κοίτην ἄρσενος ἀναθεµατιεῖτε.
(ⲓ︦ⲃ︦) ⲁⲩϭⲓⲛⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ̅ ⲛⲉⲧⲟⲩⲏϩ ϩⲛ̅ ⲛ̅ⲓ̈ⲁⲃⲓⲥ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉ ⲅⲁⲗⲁⲁⲇ ⲛϥ̅ⲧⲟⲩϣⲉ ⲛ̅ϣⲉⲉⲣⲉ ϣⲏⲙ ⲙ̅ⲡⲁⲣⲑⲉⲛⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲓ̈ ⲉⲧⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲟⲩⲥⲟⲩ ⲛ̅ϩⲟⲟⲩⲧ ⲉⲛⲕⲟⲧⲕ̅ ⲛⲙ̅ⲙⲁⲩ ⲁⲩⲛ̅ⲛ̅ⲧⲟⲩ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ̈ ⲉⲧⲡⲁⲣⲉⲙⲃⲟⲗⲏ ϩⲛ̅ ⲥⲏⲗⲱ ⲧⲁⲓ ⲉⲧϩⲙ̅ ⲡⲕⲁϩ ⲛ̅ⲭⲁⲛⲁⲁⲛ	(12) And they found among the inhabitants of Jabis Galaad four hundred young virgins, who had not known man by lying with him; and they brought them to Selom in the land of Chanaan.	(12) καὶ εὗρον ἀπὸ τῶν κατοικούντων Ιαβις Γαλααδ τετρακοσίας νεάνιδας παρθένους, αἳ οὐκ ἔγνωσαν ἄνδρα εἰς κοίτην ἄρσενος, καὶ ἦγον αὐτὰς εἰς τὴν παρεµβολὴν εἰς Σηλω, ἥ ἐστιν ἐν γῇ Χανααν.
(ⲓ︦ⲅ︦) ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲥϫⲟⲟⲩ ⲛ̅ϭⲓ ⲧⲥⲩⲛⲁⲅⲱⲅⲏ ⲧⲏⲣⲥ̅ ⲁⲩϣⲁϫⲉ ⲙⲛ̅ ⲛ̅ϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲛ̅ⲃⲉⲛⲓⲁⲙⲓⲛ ϩⲛ̅ ⲧⲡⲉⲧⲣⲁ ⲛ̅ϩⲣⲉⲙⲙⲱⲛ ⲁⲩⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲩⲉⲓⲣⲏⲛⲏ ⲛⲙ̅ⲙⲁⲩ	(13) And all the congregation sent and spoke to the children of Benjamin in the rock Remmon, and invited them to make peace.	(13) καὶ ἀπέστειλεν πᾶσα ἡ συναγωγὴ καὶ ἐλάλησαν πρὸς Βενιαµιν τὸν ἐν τῇ πέτρᾳ Ρεµµων καὶ ἐκάλεσαν αὐτοὺς εἰς εἰρήνην.
(ⲓ︦ⲇ︦) ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛ̅ϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲛ̅ⲃⲉⲛⲓⲁⲙⲓⲛ ⲁⲩⲕⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲣⲁⲧⲟⲩ ⲛ̅ⲛ̅ϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲓ̈ⲥⲣⲁⲏⲗ ⲛⲉⲩⲥⲛⲏⲩ ⲙ̅ⲡⲟⲩⲟⲉⲓϣ ⲉⲧⲙ̅ⲙⲁⲩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛ̅ϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲓ̈ⲥⲣⲁⲏⲗ ⲁⲩϯ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲛ̅ⲛⲉϩⲓⲟⲙⲉ ⲛⲁⲓ̈ ⲉⲛⲧⲁⲩϥⲓⲧⲟⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ̅ ⲛ̅ϣⲉⲉⲣⲉ [...	(14) And Benjamin returned to the children of Israel at that time, and the children of Israel gave them the women whom they had save alive of the daughters of Jabis Galaad; and they were content.	(14) καὶ ἀπέστρεψεν Βενιαµιν πρὸς τοὺς υἱοὺς Ισραηλ ἐν τῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ, καὶ ἔδωκαν αὐτοῖς τὰς γυναῖκας, αἵτινες ἦσαν ἐκ τῶν γυναικῶν Ιαβις Γαλααδ· καὶ ἤρεσεν αὐτοῖς οὕτως.
(ⲓ︦ⲉ︦)	(15) And the people relented for Benjamin, because the Lord had made a breach in the tribes of Israel.	(15) Καὶ ὁ λαὸς παρεκλήθη τῷ Βενιαµιν, ὅτι ἐποίησεν κύριος διακοπὴν ἐν ταῖς φυλαῖς Ισραηλ.
(ⲓ︦ⲋ︦)	(16) And the elders of the congregation said, What shall we do for wives for them that remain? for the women have been destroyed out of Benjamin.	(16) καὶ εἶπαν οἱ πρεσβύτεροι τῆς συναγωγῆς Τί ποιήσωµεν τοῖς ἐπιλοίποις εἰς γυναῖκας; ὅτι ἠφάνισται ἐκ τοῦ Βενιαµιν γυνή.
(ⲓ︦ⲍ︦)	(17) And they said, There must be an inheritance of them that are escaped of Benjamin; and so a tribe shall not be destroyed out of Israel.	(17) καὶ εἶπαν Κληρονοµία διασεσῳσµένη τῷ Βενιαµιν, καὶ οὐ µὴ ἐξαλειφθῇ φυλὴ ἐξ Ισραηλ·
(ⲓ︦ⲏ︦)	(18) For we shall not be able to give them wives of our daughters, because we swore among the children of Israel, saying, Cursed is he that gives a wife to Benjamin.	(18) καὶ ἡµεῖς οὐ δυνησόµεθα δοῦναι αὐτοῖς γυναῖκας ἀπὸ τῶν θυγατέρων ἡµῶν, ὅτι ὠµόσαµεν οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ λέγοντες Ἐπικατάρατος ὁ διδοὺς γυναῖκα τῷ Βενιαµιν.
(ⲓ︦ⲑ︦)	(19) And they said, Lo! now there is a feast of the Lord from year to year in Selom, which is on the north of Baethel, eastward on the way that goes up from Baethel to Sychem, and from the south of Lebona.	(19) καὶ εἶπαν Ἑορτὴ τῷ κυρίῳ ἐν Σηλω ἀφ’ ἡµερῶν εἰς ἡµέρας, ἥ ἐστιν ἀπὸ βορρᾶ τῆς Βαιθηλ κατ’ ἀνατολὰς ἡλίου ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ τῇ ἀναβαινούσῃ ἐκ Βαιθηλ εἰς Σικιµα καὶ ἀπὸ νότου τοῦ Λιβάνου τῆς Λεβωνα.
(ⲕ︦)	(20) And they charged the children of Benjamin, saying, Go and lie in wait in the vineyards;	(20) καὶ ἐνετείλαντο τοῖς υἱοῖς Βενιαµιν λέγοντες Διέλθατε καὶ ἐνεδρεύσατε ἐν τοῖς ἀµπελῶσιν·
(ⲕ︦ⲁ︦)	(21) and ye shall see; and lo! if there come out the daughters of the inhabitants of Selom to dance in dances, then shall ye go out of the vineyards and seize for yourselves every man a wife of the daughters of Selom, and go ye into the land of Benjamin.	(21) καὶ ὄψεσθε καὶ ἰδοὺ ὡς ἂν ἐξέλθωσιν αἱ θυγατέρες τῶν κατοικούντων Σηλω ἐν Σηλω χορεῦσαι ἐν χοροῖς, καὶ ἐξελεύσεσθε ἀπὸ τῶν ἀµπελώνων καὶ ἁρπάσετε ἀνὴρ ἑαυτῷ γυναῖκα ἀπὸ τῶν θυγατέρων Σηλω καὶ ἀπελεύσεσθε εἰς γῆν Βενιαµιν.
(ⲕ︦ⲃ︦)	(22) And it shall come to pass, when their fathers or their brethren come to dispute with us, that we will say to them, Grant them freely to us, for we have not taken every man his wife in the battle: because ye did not give to them according to the occasion, ye transgressed.	(22) καὶ ἔσται ὅταν ἔλθωσιν οἱ πατέρες αὐτῶν ἢ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτῶν κρίνεσθαι πρὸς ὑµᾶς, καὶ ἐροῦµεν πρὸς αὐτούς Ἐλεήσατε αὐτούς, ὅτι οὐκ ἔλαβον ἀνὴρ γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ ἐν τῷ πολέµῳ· οὐ γὰρ ὑµεῖς δεδώκατε αὐτοῖς· κατὰ τὸν καιρὸν ἐπληµµελήσατε.
(ⲕ︦ⲅ︦)	(23) And the children of Benjamin did so; and they took wives according to their number from the dancers whom they seized: and they went and returned to their inheritance, and built the cities, and dwelt in them.	(23) καὶ ἐποίησαν οὕτως οἱ υἱοὶ Βενιαµιν καὶ ἔλαβον γυναῖκας κατὰ τὸν ἀριθµὸν αὐτῶν ἀπὸ τῶν χορευουσῶν, ἃς διήρπασαν· καὶ ἀπῆλθον καὶ ἀπέστρεψαν ἐπὶ τὴν κληρονοµίαν αὐτῶν καὶ ᾠκοδόµησαν ἑαυτοῖς πόλεις καὶ κατῴκησαν ἐν αὐταῖς.
(ⲕ︦ⲇ︦)	(24) And the children of Israel went thence at that time every man to his tribe and his kindred; and they went thence every man to his inheritance.	(24) καὶ περιεπάτησαν ἐκεῖθεν οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ ἐν τῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ, ἀνὴρ εἰς τὴν φυλὴν αὐτοῦ καὶ εἰς τὴν συíένειαν αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἀπῆλθον ἐκεῖθεν, ἀνὴρ εἰς τὴν κληρονοµίαν αὐτοῦ. —
(ⲕ︦ⲉ︦) ]	(25) And in those days there was no king in Israel; every man did that which was right in his own sight.	(25) ἐν ταῖς ἡµέραις ἐκείναις οὐκ ἦν βασιλεὺς ἐν Ισραηλ· ἀνὴρ ἕκαστος τὸ εὐθὲς ἐν ὀφθαλµοῖς αὐτοῦ ἐποίει.
