Wisdom of Jesus son of Sirach 43

(ⲁ︦) ⲡϣⲟⲩϣⲟⲩ ⲙ̅ⲡϫⲓⲥⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲧⲃ̅ⲃⲟ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲥⲧⲉⲣⲉⲱⲙⲁ ...... ⲟⲩϩⲟⲣⲁⲙⲁ ⲛ̅ⲉⲟⲟⲩ. (1) The pride of the height, the clear firmament, the beauty of heaven, with his glorious shew;
(ⲃ︦) ⲡⲣⲏ ⲉϥϣⲁⲛϣⲁ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ̅ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ̅ ⲡⲉϥⲉⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲡⲥⲕⲉⲩⲟⲥ ⲛ̅ϣⲡⲏⲣⲉ ⲡⲉ ⲟⲩϩⲱⲃ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉ ⲡⲉⲧϫⲟⲥⲉ ⲡⲉ. (2) The sun when it appeareth, declaring at his rising a marvellous instrument, the work of the most High:
(ⲅ︦) ϩⲙ̅ ⲡⲛⲁⲩ ⲙ̅ⲙⲉⲉⲣⲉ ϣⲁϥϣⲉϩⲃ̅ ⲛⲉⲭⲱⲣⲁ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁϣⲱϩ ⲉⲣⲁⲧϥ̅ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲙ̅ⲧⲟ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉϥⲕⲁⲩⲙⲁ; (3) At noon it parcheth the country, and who can abide the burning heat thereof?
(ⲇ︦) ⲟⲩϩⲣⲱ ⲉⲩⲛⲓϥⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲥ ⲉϫⲉⲣⲉ ϩⲛ̅ϩⲃⲏⲩⲉ ⲡⲣⲏ ⲣⲱⲕϩ̅ ⲛ̅ⲛ̅ⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲛ̅ϣⲙ̅ⲧ ⲕⲱⲃ ⲉϩⲟⲩ ⲉⲣⲟⲥ ⲉϥⲛⲓϥⲉ ⲛ̅ϩⲛ̅ⲗϩⲱⲃ ⲛ̅ⲕⲱϩⲧ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ϣⲁϥϯ ϩⲗⲟⲥⲧⲛ̅ ⲛ̅ⲛ̅ⲃⲁⲗ ⲉϥⲧⲁⲁⲧⲉ ⲛ̅ⲛⲉϥⲁⲕⲧⲓⲛ. (4) A man blowing a furnace is in works of heat, but the sun burneth the mountains three times more; breathing out fiery vapours, and sending forth bright beams, it dimmeth the eyes.
(ⲉ︦) ⲟⲩⲛⲟϭ ⲡⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲧⲁⲙⲓⲟϥ ⲁⲩⲱ ϩⲣⲁⲓ̈ ϩⲛ̅ ⲛⲉϥϣⲁϫⲉ ⲁϥϭⲉⲡⲏ ϩⲛ̅ ⲧⲉϥϩⲓⲏ. (5) Great is the Lord that made it; and at his commandment runneth hastily.
(ⲋ︦) ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲟⲟϩ ϩⲱⲃ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉϥⲟⲩⲟⲉⲓϣ: ⲡⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ̅ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛ̅ⲛⲉϥⲟⲩⲟⲉⲓϣ ⲡⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲙⲁⲉⲓⲛ ⲛ̅ϣⲁ ⲉⲛⲉϩ ⲡⲉ. (6) He made the moon also to serve in her season for a declaration of times, and a sign of the world.
(ⲍ︦) ⲉⲣⲉ ⲡⲙⲁⲉⲓⲛ ⲙ̅ⲡϣⲁ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ̅ ⲡⲟⲟϩ ⲡⲣⲉϥⲣ̅ⲟⲩⲟⲉⲓⲛ ⲉϥϭⲱϫⲃ̅ ϩⲛ̅ ⲧⲉϥϩⲁⲏ. (7) From the moon is the sign of feasts, a light that decreaseth in her perfection.
(ⲏ︦) ⲉⲩⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲡⲉⲃⲟⲧ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲡⲉϥⲣⲁⲛ: ⲟⲩϣⲡⲏⲣⲉ ⲡⲉ ϩⲙ̅ ⲡⲉϥⲙⲟⲩϩ ⲉϥϣⲓⲃⲉ (8) The month is called after her name, increasing wonderfully in her changing,
(ⲑ︦) ⲡⲉⲥⲕⲉⲩⲟⲥ ⲛ̅ⲙ̅ⲡⲁⲣⲁⲃⲟⲗⲏ ⲙ̅ⲡϫⲓⲥⲉ ⲉϥⲣ̅ⲟⲩⲟⲉⲓⲛ ϩⲙ̅ ⲡⲉⲥⲧⲉⲣⲉⲱⲙⲁ ⲛ̅ⲧⲡⲉ. being an instrument of the armies above, shining in the firmament of heaven;
(ⲓ︦) ⲡⲥⲁ ⲛ̅ⲧⲡⲉ ⲡⲉⲟⲟⲩ ⲛ̅ⲛ̅ⲥⲓⲟⲩ: ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲡⲉⲧⲧⲁⲙⲓⲟ ⲉⲧⲣ̅ⲟⲩⲟⲉⲓⲛ ϩⲛ̅ ⲛⲉⲧϫⲟⲥⲉ. (9) The beauty of heaven, the glory of the stars, an ornament giving light in the highest places of the Lord.
(ⲓ︦ⲁ︦) ϩⲣⲁⲓ̈ ϩⲛ̅ ⲛⲉϥϣⲁϫⲉ ⲥⲉⲛⲁ....... ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲉⲩⲃⲱⲗ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ̅ ⲛⲉⲩ....... (10) At the commandment of the Holy One they will stand in their order, and never faint in their watches.
(ⲓ︦ⲃ︦) ⲁⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲧⲡⲓⲧⲉ ⲛⲅ̅ⲥⲙⲟⲩ ⲉⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲧⲁⲙⲓⲟⲥ ⲛⲉⲥⲱⲥ ⲉⲙⲁⲧⲉ ϩⲙ̅ ⲡⲉⲥⲟⲩⲟⲉⲓⲛ. (11) Look upon the rainbow, and praise him that made it; very beautiful it is in the brightness thereof.
(ⲓ︦ⲅ︦) ⲁⲥⲕⲧⲉ ⲧⲡⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲕⲱⲧⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲥⲉⲟⲟⲩ: ⲛ̅ϭⲓϫ ⲙ̅ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲛⲉⲛⲧⲁⲩϫⲟⲕⲥ̅ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ. (12) It compasseth the heaven about with a glorious circle, and the hands of the most High have bended it.
(ⲓ︦ⲇ︦) ϩⲣⲁⲓ̈ ϩⲙ̅ ⲡⲉϥⲟⲩⲉϩⲥⲁϩⲛⲉ ⲁϥϫⲉⲣ ⲉⲡⲉⲭⲓⲱⲛ ⲁⲩⲱ ϣⲁϥϫⲉⲣ ⲛ̅ⲛⲉⲃⲣⲏϭⲉ ϩⲙ̅ ⲡⲉϥⲧⲱϣ. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁ ⲛⲉⲕⲗⲟⲟⲗⲉ ⲉⲓ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ̈ ⲛ̅ⲑⲉ ⲛ̅ⲛⲉⲧϩⲏⲗ. (13) By his commandment he maketh the snow to fall apace, and sendeth swiftly the lightnings of his judgment. (14) Through this the treasures are opened: and clouds fly forth as fowls.
(ⲓ︦ⲉ︦) ⲁ ⲛⲁϩⲱⲣ ⲟⲩⲱⲛ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ̈ ⲁϥϯϭⲟⲙ ⲛ̅ⲛⲉⲕⲗⲟⲟⲗⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉϥⲙⲛ̅ⲧⲛⲟϭ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥϫⲱⲱⲣⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛ̅ⲛ̅ⲱⲛⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲭⲁⲗⲁⲍⲁ. (15) By his great power he maketh the clouds firm, and the hailstones are broken small.
(ⲓ︦ⲋ︦) ⲁϥⲧⲣⲉ ⲡⲕⲁϩ ϯⲛⲁⲁⲕⲉ ϩⲙ̅ ⲡⲉϩⲣⲟⲟⲩ ⲛ̅ⲛⲉϥϩⲣⲟⲩ ⲃ̅ⲃⲁⲓ̈ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛ̅ⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲁⲕⲓⲙ ϩⲙ̅ ⲡⲉϥⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ̅ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ. (16) At his sight the mountains are shaken, and at his will the south wind bloweth.
(ⲓ︦ⲍ︦) ⲉⲣⲉ ⲡⲧⲟⲩⲣⲏⲥ ⲛⲁⲥⲱⲕ ϩⲙ̅ ⲡⲉϥⲟⲩⲱϣ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲑⲁⲧⲏⲩ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲙϩⲓⲧ ϩⲛ̅ ⲟⲩⲕⲟⲧⲥ̅ ⲛ̅ⲧⲏⲩ. (17) The noise of the thunder maketh the earth to tremble: so doth the northern storm and the whirlwind:
(ⲓ︦ⲏ︦) ϣⲁϥⲡⲏⲥⲥⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲭⲓⲱⲛ ⲛ̅ⲑⲉ ⲛ̅ϩⲛ̅ϩⲁⲗⲏⲧ ⲉⲩϩⲏⲗ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉϥⲉⲓ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ̈ ⲛ̅ⲑⲉ ⲛ̅ϩⲛ̅ϣϫⲉ ⲉⲩⲟⲩⲱϩ. as birds flying he scattereth the snow, and the falling down thereof is as the lighting of grasshoppers:
(ⲓ︦ⲑ︦) ϣⲁⲣⲉ ⲡⲃⲁⲗ ϣⲧⲟⲣⲧⲣ̅ ϩⲙ̅ ⲡⲟⲩⲃⲁϣ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉϥⲛⲁ ......... ϣⲡⲏⲣⲉ ϩⲛ̅ ⲧⲉϥϭⲓⲛϩⲱⲟⲩ. (18) The eye marvelleth at the beauty of the whiteness thereof, and the heart is astonished at the raining of it.
(ⲕ︦) ...... ⲡϫⲁϥ ⲉϫⲛ̅ ⲡⲕⲁϩ ⲛ̅ⲑⲉ ⲛ̅ⲟⲩϩⲙⲟⲩ [ⲁⲩ]ⲱ ⲉϥϣⲁⲛⲱϭⲣ ϣⲁϥⲣ̅ⲑⲉ ⲛ̅ϩⲧⲏⲩ ⲛ̅ⲛ̅ⲥⲟⲩⲣⲉ. (19) The hoarfrost also as salt he poureth on the earth, and being congealed, it lieth on the top of sharp stakes.
(ⲕ︦ⲁ︦) ϣⲁⲣⲉ ⲡⲉⲙϩⲓⲧ ⲥⲱⲕ ⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲧⲏⲩ ⲉϥⲕⲏⲃ ϣⲁⲣⲉ ⲡⲉⲕⲣⲩⲥⲧⲁⲗⲗⲟⲥ ⲱϭⲣ̅ ϩⲓϫⲛ̅ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲟⲩ. (20) When the cold north wind bloweth, and the water is congealed into ice,
(ⲕ︦ⲃ︦) ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉϥⲛⲛⲏⲩ ⲉϫⲛ̅ ⲥⲟⲟⲩϩⲥ̅ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲟⲩ ⲁⲩⲱ ϣⲁϥϭⲗ̅ ⲡⲙⲟⲟⲩ ⲛ̅ⲑⲉ ⲛ̅ⲟⲩϩⲱⲕ. it abideth upon every gathering together of water, and clotheth the water as with a breastplate.
(ⲕ︦ⲅ︦) ϥⲛⲁⲟⲩⲱⲙ ⲛ̅ⲛ̅ⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲛϥ̅ⲣⲱⲕϩ̅ ⲙ̅ⲡϫⲁⲉⲓⲉ ⲛϥ̅ϩⲉϭⲙ̅ ⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲟⲧⲟⲩⲉⲧ ⲛ̅ⲑⲉ ⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲕⲱϩⲧ̅. (21) It devoureth the mountains, and burneth the wilderness, and consumeth the grass as fire.
(ⲕ︦ⲇ︦) ⲡⲧⲁⲗϭⲟ ⲛ̅ⲛⲁⲓ̈ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ϩⲛ̅ ⲟⲩⲥⲡⲟⲩⲇⲏ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲛⲓϥ ϣⲁⲣⲉ ⲟⲩⲉⲓⲱⲧⲉ ϯ ⲟⲩⲣⲟⲧ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲙⲛ̅ⲛ̅ⲥⲁ ⲟⲩϩⲙⲟⲙ. (22) A present remedy of all is a mist coming speedily, a dew coming after heat refresheth.
(ⲕ︦ⲉ︦) ϩⲣⲁⲓ̈ ϩⲙ̅ ⲡⲉϥϣⲟϫⲛⲉ ⲁϥⲥⲙ̅ⲛ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲛ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁ ⲓ̈ⲏⲥⲟⲩⲥ ϫⲟⲟϥⲉϥ. (23) By his counsel he appeaseth the deep, and planteth islands therein.
(ⲕ︦ⲋ︦) ⲛⲉⲧⲡⲗⲉⲁ ϩⲛ̅ ⲑⲁⲗⲁⲥⲥⲁ ⲛⲉⲧϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲥϭⲓⲛⲇⲩⲛⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲧⲛ̅ⲣ̅ϣⲡⲏⲣⲉ ⲛ̅ⲛⲉⲧⲛ̅ⲥⲱⲧⲙ̅ ⲉⲣⲟⲟⲩ. (24) They that sail on the sea tell of the danger thereof; and when we hear it with our ears, we marvel thereat.
(ⲕ︦ⲍ︦) ⲉⲣⲉ ⲛⲉϣⲡⲏⲣⲉ ⲙ̅ⲙⲁⲩ ⲙⲛ̅ ⲛⲉϩⲃⲏⲩⲉ ⲉⲧⲟ ⲛⲁⲩⲉⲓ ⲛⲁⲩⲁⲛ ⲙⲛ̅ ⲍⲱⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲙ. (25) For therein be strange and wondrous works, variety of all kinds of beasts and whales created.
(ⲕ︦ⲏ︦) ⲉⲣⲉ ⲡⲥⲟⲟⲩⲧⲛ̅ ϣⲟⲟⲡ ⲉⲧⲃⲏⲧϥ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲱϥ ⲡⲉ ⲡϫⲱⲕ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲣⲉ ⲡⲧⲏⲣϥ̅ ⲥⲙⲟⲛⲧ̅ ϩⲙ̅ ⲡⲉϥϣⲁϫⲉ. (26) By him the end of them hath prosperous success, and by his word all things consist.
(ⲕ︦ⲑ︦) ⲧⲛ̅ⲛⲁⲩ ⲉϩⲁϩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲧⲛ̅ⲛⲁϣⲡⲱϩ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲁⲛ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡϫⲱⲕ ⲛ̅ⲛⲉ ..... ⲡⲧⲏⲣϥ̅. (27) We may speak much, and yet come short: wherefore in sum, he is all.
(ⲗ︦) ⲉⲛϯⲉⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲁϥ ⲉⲛⲁϣⲡⲱϩ ⲉⲟⲩ; ⲛ̅ⲧⲟϥ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲟⲩⲛⲟϭ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲁⲣⲁ ⲛⲉϥϩⲃⲏⲩⲉ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ. (28) How shall we be able to magnify him? for he is great above all his works.
(ⲗ︦ⲁ︦) ⲟⲩϩⲟⲧⲉ ⲡⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲟⲩⲛⲟϭ ⲉⲙⲁⲧⲉ ⲡⲉ ⲟⲩϣⲡⲏⲣⲉ ⲧⲉ ⲧⲉϥϭⲟⲙ. (29) The Lord is terrible and very great, and marvellous is his power.
(ⲗ︦ⲃ︦) ϫⲓⲥⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛ̅ϯⲉⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲁϥ ⲛ̅ⲑⲉ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲁϣⲁⲁⲥ: ϥϫⲟⲥⲉ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲟ ⲉⲣⲟⲥ ⲛ̅ϩⲟⲩⲟ. (30) When ye glorify the Lord, exalt him as much as ye can; for even yet will he far exceed:
(ⲗ︦ⲅ︦) ⲁⲩⲱ ⲙⲁⲧⲁϣⲟ ϩⲛ̅ ⲟⲩϭⲟⲙ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛ̅ϫⲓⲥⲉ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟϥ: ⲙ̅ⲡⲣ̅ϩⲓⲥⲉ ⲛ̅ⲛⲉⲧⲛ̅ⲉϣⲡⲱϩ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲉⲣⲟϥ. and when ye exalt him, put forth all your strength, and be not weary; for ye can never go far enough.
(ⲗ︦ⲇ︦) ⲛⲓⲙ ⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲧⲁⲣⲉϥϣⲁϫⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ; ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁϣϫⲁⲥⲧϥ̅ ⲛ̅ⲑⲉ ⲉⲧϥⲟ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ; (31) Who hath seen him, that he might tell us? and who can magnify him as he is?
(ⲗ︦ⲉ︦) ϩⲛ̅ⲕⲟⲩⲓ̈ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲛⲉⲧⲁⲛⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲣⲟⲟⲩ ϩⲛ̅ ⲛⲉϥϩⲃⲏⲩⲉ: ⲉⲩⲛ̅ ϩⲁϩ ⲉⲩϩⲏⲡ ⲉⲩⲟ ⲛ̅ⲛⲟϭ ⲉⲛⲁⲓ̈. (32) There are yet hid greater things than these be, for we have seen but a few of his works.
(ⲗ︦ⲋ︦) ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲛ̅ⲧⲟϥ ⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲧⲁⲙⲓⲉ ⲛ̅ⲕⲁ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥϯ ⲛ̅ⲧⲥⲟⲫⲓⲁ ⲛ̅ⲛ̅ⲣⲙ̅ⲛ̅ⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ. ⲡⲉⲥⲙⲟⲩ ⲛ̅ⲛⲉⲓⲟⲧⲉ. (33) For the Lord hath made all things; and to the godly hath he given wisdom.
