ϧ, 28th letter of alphabet, called ϧⲉⲓ (K 1), ϧⲁⲓ خاي (Stern p 418). Only in BO, om in S alphabets (Hall pll 28, 29, Class Philol 16 193); corresponding regularly to SA2F ϩ, A ⳉ. Derived from hierogl ḫ, as ϧⲏⲃⲥ, ϧⲣⲱⲟⲩ, ⲁϧⲱⲙ, ⲱⲥϧ, or ẖ, as ϧⲙⲟⲙ, ϧⲱⲧⲉⲃ, ⲙⲁϧⲧ, ⲫⲁϧⲣⲓ. Found in O (Hor) as ⳉ (made always thus in 2 strokes) in ⳉⲛ-, ⳉⲣⲱⲧ, ⲱⲛⳉ &c, in PMich 6131 as ϧ: ϧⲉⲗ. In DM glosses thrice: ⲁϧ, ϧⲱ, ϧϫⲉⲓ. Sporadically in non-literary FBf, as CMSS 25, 52, 57, BM 590 (2), 626 (cf Amer JPhilol 56 105). Rarely replaced by ⲭ, as BM 1237, Ryl 462, except where Gk alphabet employed, as MR 5 41, CMSS 59. In late S improperly, as PChass 1 ⲡⲁϧⲣⲉ, ⲧⲱⲣϧ, ⲧⲱϧ (error ? for ϩ); in this & Bodl (P) a 1 also as ϩ́: ⲡⲁϩ́ⲣⲉ, ⲥⲁϩ́, ϩ́ⲏⲧϥ (not so in duplicate (P) a 3), PMéd ⲗⲟϩ́ⲙ, ϩ́ⲱϩ́.
